The 82nd running of the CSX Santa Train went off without a hitch. Children and their parents lined the Santa Train stops from Shelby, KY, to the Santa Depot at Centennial Park in Kingsport, TN. We caught up with the Santa Train in Kermit, VA, where around 100-150 people gathered to glimpse Santa, his helpers, and hopes of snagging some toys. Santa's helpers were off the train, passing out backpacks with toys and other goodies, mixing into the crowd and ensuring everyone could leave with something. Everything was very organized and well run. Police, along with teams of CSX employees, made sure everything went very smoothly and without incident.

We caught back up with the Santa Train at the end of its journey in Kingsport, TN, as it pulled into the Santa Depot. Kids lined up throughout Centennial Park with their family and friends. Over 15 tons of toys, backpacks, and other supplies were given out throughout the day. As Santa left the train, he gave a small thank-you speech and took a moment to meet with some children before leaving for the North Pole to prepare for the busy season ahead.

With 82 years under its belt, the CSX Santa Train has become a family tradition for many people throughout this region of the Appalachians. Entire families spanning many generations have enjoyed this unique experience, and hopefully, many more will get to experience it.
